The star-studded premiere of the hotly anticipated World War II movie “Fury,” starring Brad Pitt and Shia LaBeouf, was held at the Newseum Oct. 15. Pitt, LaBeouf, and other stars from the film walked the red carpet outside the museum, posing for photos and giving interviews to local and national entertainment reporters about the film.

Making the night a uniquely Washington event, Vice President Joe Biden and his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, also attended the premiere, as did former Secretary of State Colin Powell, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and former Senator Chris Dodd, among other political VIPs. Washington Capitals superstar Alex Ovechkin came bearing a special gift for Pitt — a customized Caps jersey for the Academy Award-winning producer and actor.
The Newseum has become a favorite D.C. venue for red carpet movie events. Recent premiere screenings have included the James Brown biopic “Get on Up,” “The Good Lie” (with Reese Witherspoon in attendance), “Killing Kennedy” (with Rob Lowe in attendance) and “Captain Phillips” (with Tom Hanks in attendance), among many others.
