Historian – Born 1954

As a schoolgirl, Julieanna Richardson was struck by the lack of black people in her history books. Using her skills as a television producer, she launched The HistoryMakers to collect the stories of African Americans, both famous and unsung. With more than 2,000 interviews, the project is the world’s largest archive of black oral history.

“The turbulence of the 1960s set the ground for our generation to really soar. There’s no doubt that we are the beneficiaries of those who came before us. We are the affirmative action babies.”

AARP is the exclusive sponsor of “The Boomer List” exhibit.
