Hassan Mims from Annandale High School in Virginia is the winner of a drawing among educators who completed a survey after visiting the Newseum this summer. His prize package includes four tickets to the Newseum, a poster with lesson plans, a copy of “The Race Beat: The Press, the Civil Rights Struggle, and the Awakening of a Nation,” and a flash drive.
Mims, a social studies teacher, says his students had “just finished examining the Bill of Rights. The Time Warner World News and Cox First Amendment Galleries directly fit into Fairfax County Public School’s curriculum. We particularly enjoyed the visual elements of both galleries. It told a very powerful story and got my students to use their deductive & inductive thinking skills.”
He adds: “The primary and secondary resources are totally awesome!”
Use the Newseum’s exhibits or online resources to fit your curriculum needs.
