The Newseum travels to Austin, Texas, to participate in the South by Southwest Interactive Festival and will live-stream interviews with key thought leaders in technology, media and privacy from the WeDC House March 12 to 14, 2016. The live stream will be available during the conference at newseum.org/austin.
The rapid evolution of media and communication technologies has fundamentally changed how and where people get their information. The Newseum interviews, moderated by Newseum Institute COO Gene Policinski and Newseum program host Sonya Gavankar, will explore these issues and their impact on free expression and the First Amendment. In addition, Newseum CEO Jeffrey Herbst will interview Washington Post Executive Editor Marty Baron Sunday, March 13, at 9 a.m.
“The people who attend SXSW are at the forefront of media and technology, and they will determine how we consume news and information in the future,” said Policinski. “Our goal in attending the conference is to learn what impact these new information channels will have on freedom of expression, and to talk to the people who will be blazing that trail.”
Selected clips of the interviews will be uploaded to the Newseum’s YouTube channel shortly after they are streamed, and will remain available to view after the conference concludes.
