Become a Newseum Volunteer
As a Newseum volunteer, you will be part of the talented and select team dedicated to making the Newseum a stimulating and enjoyable place of learning for motivated people who share common interests in news, history and freedom.
The Newseum, the interactive museum of news, offers visitors an experience that blends five centuries of news history with up-to-the second technology and hands-on exhibits. The 250,000-square-foot museum is funded by the Freedom Forum, a nonpartisan foundation dedicated to free press, free speech and free spirit for all people.
AS A VOLUNTEER YOU WILL:
- • Meet and greet visitors.
- • Assist in maintaining the flow of visitor traffic.
- • Assist in facilitating programs.
- • Become a host in one of our exhibition galleries.
- • Participate in special events.
TRAINING
All volunteers are required to attend the Newseum’s training program. After satisfactory completion of initial instruction, volunteers receive on-the-job training in the Newseum.
TIME AND COMMITMENT
The Newseum asks for a commitment of four-and-a-half hours of service per week when working a weekday assignment, or four-and-a-half hours of service every other week when working a weekend assignment.

The Newseum requires applicants to successfully pass a background screening.
