Volunteers:
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Have a valid email address.
- Commit a minimum of one year to the Newseum.
- Complete all required training, including attending CORE training, four content modules and Information Desk training, during the first six months.
- Are able to cover a variety of positions on the Newseum floor, serve as backup to the Information Desk volunteer, utilize a handheld radio and provide evacuation support, as needed.
- Stand for extended periods of time (minimum shift is four hours).
- Comply with dress code requirements.
- Share content that is supported by the Newseum, its exhibits, websites (Newseum, First Amendment Center and Diversity Institute) and/or staff.
- Volunteer a minimum of four hours per week when working a weekday assignment, or four hours every other weekend when working a weekend assignment.
- Have a 15-minute break when working a four-hour shift. If working an eight-hour shift, volunteers have two 15-minute breaks and a 60-minute lunch.
