HITS THE STREET AND AIRWAVES CONT...
On Oct. 16, the ADN, the official communist news agency, reports
more than 100,000 people marching in Leipzig. Even the East German
press admits that people have criticized the government and not
been beaten or arrested.
On Oct. 20, public discussions with communist leaders are shown
live on East German television.
On Nov. 4, more than a million protesters call for free elections,
free speech, truthful news and the right to travel. The East German
TV newsmagazine Actuelle Kamera carries the event live.
