NEWSPAPERS:
East:
The
early Sunday edition of the state-controlled East German paper,
Neues Deutschland, hits the streets of East Berlin with no mention
of the government plan to build the border.
A small staff of trusted party members begins work on a second Sunday
edition. That newspaper announces the wall construction and justifies
the government's decision to protect citizens from capitalism.
On Monday, Aug. 14, East German media continue to support closed
borders. Protesters, reports Neues Deutschland, are arrested.
