worldwide influenza epidemic kills an estimated 20 million people
in just months, more than the number who die in World War I. Scientists
think it may have started at Ft. Riley, Kan., with U.S. troops carrying
the first flu wave to the war in Europe. There, it mutates into
a deadly strain, picks up the name "Spanish Flu" and spreads
across the globe.
