Amid growing allegations, President Bill Clinton on Jan. 21 denies he conducted an improper relationship with 21-year-old White House intern Monica Lewinsky. Clinton also denies he urged her to lie under oath. Audio tapes appear to contradict testimony Clinton gave in a harassment suit brought by Paula Jones. On the tapes, Lewinsky describes her relationship with the president. On Dec. 19, the House votes to impeach Clinton on perjury and obstruction of justice charges. In 1999, Clinton is acquitted.
