The Berlin
Wall stretched 96 miles long and stood 13 feet high. Armed
soldiers guarded the wall.
EXPLANATION:
Although
10,000 East Germans tried to escape to the West, only about
half of them made it. The Berlin Wall was a massive, well-guarded
structure that was difficult to pass through or get around.
Successful escapees were ingenious, hard working, and often
very lucky.
