The Newseum continues its new series “The President and Press” with April Ryan, White House correspondent for American Urban Radio Networks and CNN political analyst.
Ryan will talk about her coverage of the Trump administration and will also discuss her new book, “At Mama’s Knees: Mothers and Race in Black and White.”
The book interweaves a series of stories from iconic figures including former President Barack Obama, Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.), Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, about what their mothers told them about race.
The book also includes Ryan’s personal stories, including the way her mother talked to her about race and Ryan’s perspective as a White House correspondent.
A book signing will follow the program.
“The President and the Press” explores the Trump administration’s relationship with the press, pertinent challenges to the First Amendment, and protecting the free flow of information in a divided nation.
