'Yes, Virginia' Family Day @ Newseum | Washington | District of Columbia | United States

Come celebrate the season at our 17th annual “Yes, Virginia” Family Day. The day of festivities for the child in all of us is inspired by Francis P. Church’s 1897 New York Sun editorial, which assured 8-year-old Virginia O’Hanlon that there was, indeed, a Santa Claus.

Join us as Fox News Channel’s Bret Baier and Virginia O’Hanlon’s great-great-granddaughter, Mehren O’Hanlon Blair, participate in a reading of the heart-warming editorial. Afterward, the One-and-Only Macy’s Santa Claus will make a special guest appearance to read “’Twas the Night Before Christmas” and pose for photos with good boys and girls.

Throughout the day, enjoy holiday crafts, cookie decorating, music by the Figgy Puddings Holiday Carolers from the Washington National Opera, train rides and more!

Kids 18 and younger will receive FREE ADMISSION* to the Newseum that day if they bring a letter to put in Macy’s Believe Mailbox. (There will also be a table outside the Newseum where youth can fill out a letter on the spot). Macy’s will donate $1 to Make-A-Wish® for every letter collected.
