In the early hours of Aug. 30, 2005, "Good Morning America" anchor Robin Roberts arrived in Mississippi for her first look at what was left of the Gulf Coast. The Mississippi native, who gave an emotional live broadcast for GMA, describes her shock at the scope of the devastation.
Roberts, a native of Pass Christian, Miss., rushed to the Gulf Coast after the storm to find her family and to broadcast live for GMA amid the devastation. She has returned many times to report on the region and its recovery.
