Volunteer Requirements
  • A minimum one-year commitment to the Newseum. (We are unable to make exceptions at this time.)
  • Volunteers must be at least 16 years old at the time of application.
  • Volunteers are required to stand for extended periods of time (minimum of four hours).
  •  Complete all required training including two days of introductory training. followed by on-going content and refresher training.
  • Volunteers must be able to work independently.
  • Use the Newseum’s scheduling website to check your schedule and follow established procedures to change your schedule.
  • Volunteers are to be outgoing and people-friendly, responsible and love to learn.
  • Volunteers must have a valid email address, computer access and skills.
  • All volunteer applicants 18 years old or older must successfully complete a background check. This is not required of volunteers under the age of 18.
