Volunteer Requirements

A minimum one-year commitment to the Newseum. (We are unable to make exceptions at this time.) Volunteers must be at least 16 years old at the time of application. Volunteers are required to stand for extended periods of time (minimum of four hours). Complete all required training including two days of introductory training. followed by on-going content and refresher training. Volunteers must be able to work independently. Use the Newseum’s scheduling website to check your schedule and follow established procedures to change your schedule. Volunteers are to be outgoing and people-friendly, responsible and love to learn. Volunteers must have a valid email address, computer access and skills. All volunteer applicants 18 years old or older must successfully complete a background check. This is not required of volunteers under the age of 18.
