Newseum is Up for Webby Awards

Now through April 27, you can vote for Newseum.org in the Webby People's Voice Awards competition at www.webbyawards.com.

The Newseum was nominated for the 11th Annual Webby Awards in the Cultural Institutions category and is eligible for both the Webby Award and the Webby People's Voice Award.

The site also was selected as an honoree in the Best Visual Design–Function category, awarded to the top 15% of all work entered into the Webby Awards. A record 8,000 entries were submitted from more than 60 countries and all 50 states.

The site was re–launched on Jan. 25 after months of planning, design and production by Newseum staff. The same team also was selected for a 2007 MUSE Award, given by the American Association of Museum’s Media and Technology Committee.

Winners will be announced on May 1 and honored at the Webby Awards ceremony in New York City on June 5. The ceremony will be hosted by comedian and actor Rob Corddry, star of Fox's new sitcom "The Winner," and a former correspondent for "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart."

The Webby Awards is the leading international award honoring excellence on the Internet, including Web sites, interactive advertising, online film and video, and mobile Web sites. The awards are judged by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences.
