J. Edgar Hoover

Watch video:

J. Edgar Hoover and his "G-men" rode high on the American horizon nabbing gangsters, thwarting Nazis and catching spies. Hoover also understood the power of information and positive publicity, and he used the news media and Hollywood to enhance the bureau's reputation. The Newseum's Patty Rhule and Don Ross introduce the new exhibit "G-Men and Journalists: Top News Stories of the FBI's First Century."
