Died in a Feb. 11 car-bomb blast outside the press center in downtown Algiers that killed 17 others and wounded 52. He was editor-in-chief of his newspaper. Islamic extremists are blamed for the attack on the Tahar Djaout Press Center, named for the first Algerian writer killed in 1993 by Islamic radicals.
