Gunned down along with his assistant on Feb. 17 as he worked in his office in Tizi Ouzou, 50 miles southeast of Algiers. Islamic extremists are believed responsible for his death. He was 40 and the director of his private press and advertising agency. He was a journalist with the regional daily Le Pays before creating his own firm.
