Shot several times in the head and chest as he arrived at his radio station amid social unrest April 3 in Port-au-Prince. One of his country's best-known journalists and commentators, he owned the independent radio station Radio Haiti Inter. Dominique, 69, was a free-speech advocate and adviser to President Rene Preval. "The only weapon I have is my journalist's profession, my microphone and my unshakable faith as a militant for change, veritable change," Dominique said in a radio editorial.
