Died in the Sept. 30 crash of a small private jet carrying a leading Indian lawmaker and three colleagues to a rally in central India. Jha, 39, who began his work in television journalism in 1995, was a special correspondent for his television station. He had worked for several newspapers, including the Hindu daily Dainik Jagran, before turning to broadcasting. All four journalists died instantly along with Congress Party leader Madhavrao Scindia and three others when their plane crashed and burst into flames 190 miles southeast of New Delhi. The flight was en route to Kanpur, a town in Uttar Pradesh state, when the accident occurred.
