He and two other Russian journalists were killed April 28 in a helicopter crash in the Krasnoyarsk region of Siberia. They were traveling with Krasnoyarsk governor Aleksandr Lebed to cover the opening ceremony for a new ski slope when the helicopter hit a power line and crashed. Lebed and six other passengers also were killed in the accident.
