A journalism student at Al-Najah University in Nablus and a reporter for the school's radio station, he was shot March 22 at a refugee camp near Nablus. A producer at the station, talking to Abu Halima via telephone, said that three Israeli jeeps approached, there was gunfire and contact was lost. Later reports said that Abu Halima was shot in the stomach and died in a hospital. Israel said the man had opened fire on the Israeli forces.
