Bouamrane, an Algerian-Polish national working as a television producer for Poland's TVP television network, was killed in a shooting south of Baghdad on May 7. The producer, a correspondent and a cameraman were en route to a Polish military base when their car was riddled with gunfire, killing Bouamrane and the correspondent and wounding the cameraman. Their Iraqi driver escaped without injury.
