An Iraqi television cameraman working for Germany's ZDF television, he was killed while on assignment in Fallujah. He had telephoned his bureau to report that he had filmed the U.S. bombardment of a house in Fallujah and was on his way back to Baghdad. Half an hour later, he called to say that he was caught amid heavy fighting. The call suddenly was cut off. His death was reported the next day when his body was brought to a Fallujah mosque.
