The correspondent in Khulna for the Bengali-language daily Sangram died of injuries received in a Feb. 5 bomb attack on the Khulna Press Club. An extremist Maoist group claimed responsibility for the attack, saying that it had more journalists in its sights. After the explosion, Belaluddin, 48, was taken to a hospital in the capital city, Dhaka, where he died. His body was flown back to Khulna, where an estimated 2,000 people mourned him in a memorial service.
