A journalist who had worked for government media in Libya for 10 years, he quit his job at a state-owned newspaper, worked freelance and became an outspoken critic of the regime and its press. He disappeared on May 21 in Benghazi and his body was found on or about June 2. He had been tortured and then shot. He was 32.
