A reporter in Faridpur for the Dhaka daily Samakal, Das was found strangled in his office Nov. 17. Police broke in when his office door was found locked when it should have been open, and he failed to answer his telephone. According to colleagues, he had reported on crime, corruption and alleged illegal activities of members of the ruling party.
