The photographer, who worked for the Cadena Capriles newspaper chain, was fatally shot near an anti-crime demonstration he went to cover after completing an earlier assignment. As he and his driver neared the scene of the demonstration, a man on a motorcycle approached and told the driver to leave. The driver refused. When they reached the protest scene, the photographer was getting out of the car when he was shot four times by the motorcyclist, who had followed them. He died hours later in a hospital.
