The television reporter, also known as Saud Mazahim al-Hadithi, worked for a pro-Sunni television station. He was kidnapped and shot several times in the head. The station is often critical of the new Iraqi government and of the U.S. presence in Iraq. A colleague said the dead reporter had interviewed authorities about human rights violations. His father said, "My son was killed because he was a well-known journalist."
