Masked gunmen in several vehicles appeared at the station that had not yet gone on the air for the first time. The killers launched the deadliest single attack on a media outlet since the start of the U.S.-led war, killing 11 people and wounding two others. Al-Shouwili was an on-air presenter for the station, which is owned by the National Justice and Progress Party.
