Police found the bodies of the radio journalist and his cousin in the western area of Baghdad, both with gunshot wounds. The two were kidnapped on Feb. 4. The journalist's identity cards were missing, and his family did not identify the body until Feb. 19. The slain journalist's brother reportedly said that the kidnappers had called the family saying that they had killed al-Khakani because he was a journalist. He had spent 21 years as a prisoner of war in Iran. He hosted a radio program covering government and politics.
