Gunmen raided the reporter's home and took him, his brother and their father to a nearby site and killed them. Hearing the shooting, other members of the family then tried to intervene, resulting in at least two others being killed. The reporter had worked for the news agency for about a year and also had freelanced for several Iraqi publications.
