A Japanese photographer for the Tokyo-based photo and video news agency APF, Nagai was killed in Rangoon by a Burmese soldier during anti-military government demonstrations. According to The Japan Times, an autopsy showed that he was shot at point-blank range. Images of the shooting showed him continuing to take photos as he lay dying on the street. The photographer, 50, was one of at least nine people killed that day by Burmese troops.
