The reporter, 29, was killed in a car crash while on her way from La Paz, the capital, to Sucre to cover continuing political unrest. About 50 miles south of La Paz, the taxi in which she was riding collided with two trucks that had been involved in a collision, killing Almudevar and the wife of the taxi driver. The BBC said of the reporter that "she was building a great reputation and will be terribly missed by us all."
