CARLOS QUISPE QUISPE
News Organization: RADIO MUNICIPAL
The municipal radio station where Quispe worked in Pucarani, a small town near the capital La Paz, was attacked by a mob opposed to the mayor because of his alleged corruption. Encountering the reporter, whom they reportedly referred to as "the mouth on the radio," the mob beat him with metal rods and whips. He was taken to a hospital but died of his injuries two days later. The protesters also destroyed the station's equipment. Quispe reportedly was an intern at the station who had worked there about three months and delivered a news summary at noon each day.
