A reporter who contributed to the BBC and the Associated Press, Farah was fatally shot outside his home in what the National Union of Somali Journalists called a "targeted assassination." Farah, 26, was vice president of the journalists union and had received death threats from anonymous callers. He is survived by his wife, who was six months pregnant with their second child at the time of his death, and a young son.
