A reporter for the largest Thai-language daily newspaper, Boonsawat was covering a bomb blast in southern Thailand when a second bomb exploded, killing him and injuring at least 20 others, including another reporter. According to local press reports, the first explosion, which was smaller and caused no injuries, was intended to draw police and onlookers to the scene, after which the larger bomb was detonated. Boonsawat was 64 and the father of four.
