Ahmed, a reporter for the online news site Eye Iraq, was walking with a friend in Kirkuk, north of Baghdad, when he was shot multiple times in the head and chest. He was declared dead where he had fallen. The friend was not hurt. Ahmed was 28 and had worked for several other media outlets. Kirkuk's journalist union believes that he was killed because of stories he had written.
