Khan, a correspondent for Aaj TV, was ambushed while heading to work in Mardan, in the troubled North West Frontier Province. Gunmen shot him at least 15 times. He had been assigned to do a story on a soldier who had been killed by drug smugglers. A representative of his television station said Khan was "a bold reporter," adding, "After looking at this case, people will be more cautious in their reporting and in their engagement against the terrorists."
