Filloux, a reporter for the French news agency Agence France-Presse, left Vientiane, Laos, to interview Khmer Rouge leaders in northern Cambodia on April 10, 1974. He was not heard from again after April 14. It is believed that he and his interpreter were killed in Cambodia. Other journalists had disappeared in the region and were presumed killed. Filloux was hired in southeast Asia and was scheduled to be sent to AFP's main office in Paris. He was 29.
