Nathan S. Dabak, deputy editor of The Light Bearer, was traveling with reporter Sunday Gyang Bwede to interview a local politician about violence between Muslim and Christian groups when a mob attacked. Both men were stabbed to death. The Light Bearer is the monthly newspaper of the Church of Christ in Nigeria. The number of unsolved murders of journalists in Nigeria is mounting, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists. Dabak was 36.
