Sasoli, a reporter for Aaj Kal, was driving with family members near a hotel in Balochistan when gunmen fired on the vehicle and killed him. He had escaped two previous attempts on his life. Reports said that a Balochi separatist organization had targeted him. Sasoli also worked for the Independent News of Pakistan, a news service. He was 27 and was to be married in a month.
