Giolias, director of a private radio station and contributor to the popular news blog Troktiko, was lured out of his suburban Athens apartment by someone who said his car was being stolen. Gunmen fired 16 times, killing him instantly. “Somebody wanted to silence a very good investigative reporter who had stepped on a lot of toes with his stories,” said the head of the Athens journalists union. Giolias was 37, married and the father of a young child.
