Al-Ahmadi, a freelance newspaper reporter for more than 30 years, was killed by submachine gunfire as he left his home. He was known for stories that focused on financial and administrative corruption. Al-Ahmadi worked for two weeklies in Mosul, Mosul Echo and Iraqiyoun. He was 50.
