Al Jaber, a cameraman for Al-Jazeera, was killed when gunmen opened fire on his car near Benghazi. He had been covering fighting between rebels and forces loyal to Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi. Al-Jazeera said Al Jaber was ambushed, calling it a “cowardly crime, which comes as part of the Libyan regime’s malicious campaign targeting Al-Jazeera and its staff.” Al-Jazeera’s director general said Al Jaber “was one of those people who lived and eventually died in the pursuit of truth.” Al Jaber was 55.
