Al-Bazi, a correspondent for Al-Arabiya television news and a freelance reporter for Reuters, CNN and other international news outlets, was killed when gunmen wearing military uniforms seized control of a provincial government building in Tikrit. They used bombs, explosive vests and grenades to kill 58 people and injure nearly 100 others. Al-Bazi was covering a council meeting when the attack took place. Reuters said, “This tragic incident shows yet again the risks journalists face daily in doing their jobs and to bring news to the world.” Al-Bazi was 30.
