Al-Sharaabi, a photojournalist, was one of two journalists and at least 52 civilians who were killed when security forces fired on an anti-government demonstration just outside Sana’a University. Snipers shot the journalists as they took photos of the protest, reported The Yemen Times. A National Organization for Human Rights lawyer who was at the protest said, “They died holding their cameras.” Al-Sharaabi was 35.
