Abdelwahad, a reporter for Al-Ayn news agency, was killed when gunmen wearing military uniforms seized control of a provincial government building in Tikrit. They used bombs, explosive vests and grenades to kill 58 people and injure nearly 100 others. Abdelwahad was covering a council meeting when the attack took place. He was 39.
