Tagi, a freelance reporter for Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty and a number of newspapers and websites, died after being attacked on his way home from work. In a hospital interview, Tagi said his assailant stabbed him and said nothing. Tagi said the attack might have been related to an article he had written about the suppression of human rights in Iran, which resulted in Iranian clerics issuing a fatwa against him. He died two days after the hospital interview. Tagi was 61.
